FAW Vehicle Manufacturers SA has had a successful year, notching up a number of milestones.

In August, the company produced its 2 000th truck at its Coega assembly plant near Port Elizabeth and, more recently, it exported its 200th truck into Africa.

Jianyu Hao, CEO of FAW SA, said it was gratifying to see many sub-Saharan customers staying loyal to the brand, bearing testimony to the company’s commitment to service and support in African regions.

He was particularly pleased at the growth in sales of the brand’s eight-ton 15.180FL – up 19,4% to 289 units compared with the previous year’s figure.

Hao said market indications for 2017 remained largely similar to those of 2016. “It will be tough and competitive,” he said. “However, the opportunities are there and the chance of one to three percent growth is possible. We at FAW SA will continue to build on our customer relationships as we explore every new possibility.”
