Dachser South Africa will be exhibiting at Electra Mining Africa 2018, the key event for industry leaders in mining, industrial, engineering and related industries to showcase products, services, machinery and equipment.

Dachser South Africa’s exhibition space will provide visitors with the opportunity to engage with and learn more about Dachser South Africa’s rich experience in managing the complexities associated with logistics in Africa, as well as the company’s global capabilities that are supported by a backbone of interconnected networks around the world.

“Mining and associated industrial and engineering businesses that operate beyond South Africa’s borders into Africa, face exceptional challenges when moving diverse products, from raw materials to mega machinery, industrial components and sophisticated hi-tech products,” says Managing Director of Dachser South Africa, Detlev Duve.  “Of particular relevance for Electra Mining Africa visitors will be our Global and intra-Africa solutions.”

Duve explains that the needs of mining companies are characterised by transportation to remote locations, the management of complex multi-modal projects and high risks that require specialised insurance. “Dachser South Africa has significant experience in providing unique, targeted logistics solutions to mining and associated companies which ultimately save on costs.”

Working with Red Metal Mining, a specialist engineering house and supplier of cast resin dry-type transformers, substations & MCC’s across sub-Saharan Africa provides a compelling case study for Dachser’s work in the mining sector, believes Duve.  On behalf of Red Metal Mining, Dachser South Africa moves cast resin transformers from origin to destination, transporting the transformers in raw form from Regensberg in Switzerland, via the German port in Bermehaven to South Africa.  Here Red Metal Mining assembles and tests the transformers before Dachser South Africa transports these on flatrack containers via superlinks to the final destination in the Copperbelt region of Zambia.

Duve says, “We have a strong relationship with Red Metal Mining and have moved large numbers of transformers which can range in size from 1,400kg per piece to 8,000kg per piece in 3 to 4-day time periods.  This is made possible by knowledgeable personnel at every point in the supply chain backed by sophisticated, real-time technological platforms.  Red Metal Mining is a market leader in innovation and Dachser South Africa is dedicated to providing an innovative supply chain solution that keep driving their innovative products forward.”

With offices in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town locally and a comprehensive international network, Dachser South Africa brings both local expertise and global coverage to address logistics needs.

Dachser South Africa will be located at HALL 5, A07 within the Expo Centre in Nasrec, Johannesburg from 10 to 14 September 2018
