Serco has completed delivery of 24 dry freight trucks and trailers to EPX Courier Services to add to the client’s expanding fleet which operates country-wide.

EPX Courier Services is an overnight express delivery company specialising in services between Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, and the Free State.

EPX, which operates a fleet of vehicles to accommodate various loads, recently moved into new headquarters in Bredell Kempton Park, Johannesburg. They have existing branches in Nelspruit, Middelburg, Rustenburg and Bloemfontein.

Their move into the new warehouse coincided with a decision to expand their fleet by adding a variety of new trailers, rigids and pup trailers as well as refurbishing bodies on some of their older units and remounting these to new chassis.

The additions and replacements took place between November 2016 and March 2017 with all the work being done by Serco in Johannesburg.

The dry freight vehicles include x15 four ton and x3 eight ton trucks, x4 15.4m trailers and x2 pup trailers.

Serco’s Gauteng General Manager, Charl Coetzee, said features included heavy duty Birch floors with steel overlays, and panels constructed with a high-quality Spruce ply bonded between composite facings which are 18% lighter than standard and are significantly more resistant to water ingress, for a durable and long-lasting body construction.

Coetzee said Serco enjoyed a long-standing business relationship with EPX in which Serco provides high quality vehicles and also assisting in keeping them in good shape.

National Operations Manager at EPX, Mr Bertie Kok, said the vehicles had been a combination of additions and replacements to the fleet.

Kok said the vehicles were already in operation around South Africa and he was pleased with the quality of the vehicles and the excellent customer service he received. “We needed the vehicles urgently to service our increasing customer base and Serco ensured we received them on time.”
